Teeth Grinding (Bruxism) Treatment in Kampala
Protect your teeth and jaw from the damage of grinding and clenching
Bruxism & Night Guard Treatment at M Dental Care
Bruxism is grinding or clenching your teeth, usually during sleep and often without knowing it. Over months and years it flattens and chips the teeth, cracks fillings, causes sensitivity, and strains the jaw muscles and joints — giving you jaw pain, tight muscles and headaches when you wake up. A partner hearing you grind at night is often the first clue.
At M Dental Care in Najjera–Kira, Kampala, we check your teeth and jaw for the tell-tale signs of grinding, make a custom-fitted night guard to protect your teeth while you sleep, repair any teeth that have already worn or cracked, and advise on the stress, sleep and lifestyle factors that drive bruxism.
Signs you grind or clench your teeth
- Sore or tight jaw muscles, especially in the morning
- Dull headaches around the temples on waking
- Flat, worn, chipped or sensitive teeth
- Clicking or pain in the jaw joint in front of the ear
- Broken fillings or crowns without an obvious cause

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I grind my teeth at night?
Stress and anxiety are the commonest causes, along with disrupted sleep, caffeine, alcohol, some medications and an uneven bite. Many people grind without ever knowing until a partner mentions it or a dentist spots the wear.
Will a night guard stop me grinding?
It does not stop the habit, but it protects your teeth from the damage and relaxes the jaw muscles, which relieves the pain and headaches. That protection is what prevents cracked teeth and expensive repairs.
Can I buy a mouth guard from a pharmacy instead?
Boil-and-bite guards are bulky, wear out fast and can even change your bite. A custom guard made from an impression of your teeth is thinner, far more comfortable and lasts for years.
Is jaw pain always from grinding?
Usually, but jaw joint (TMJ) problems, a bad bite, wisdom teeth and dental infections can also cause it. A consultation at M Dental Care finds the real cause.
