Mouth Ulcers Treatment in Kampala
Relief for painful sores — and a proper check on any ulcer that will not heal
Mouth Ulcer and Oral Sore Treatment at M Dental Care
Mouth ulcers are small, painful sores on the inside of the cheeks, lips, tongue or gums. Most are aphthous ulcers — harmless, and healing within 7 to 14 days — triggered by a bite, stress, a sharp tooth, spicy or acidic food, or a vitamin deficiency. Some people get them again and again.
At M Dental Care in Najjera–Kira, Kampala, we relieve the pain, remove any sharp edge or rough filling that keeps injuring the same spot, and look for the reason behind recurring ulcers. Just as importantly, we examine any sore that has lasted more than two weeks: a non-healing ulcer must be checked to rule out oral cancer, and early detection makes all the difference.

Traumatic ulcers
Caused by a bite, a sharp tooth, braces or a rough denture edge. Heal quickly once the cause is removed.
Cold sores
Blisters on the lip caused by the herpes virus. Contagious; treated with antiviral cream early.
Non-healing sores
Any sore lasting over 2 weeks, especially in smokers, needs examination and possibly a referral for a biopsy.
Managing Mouth Ulcers
1. Ease the pain
Medicated gel or rinse, warm salt-water rinses, avoiding spicy, acidic or very hot foods.
2. Remove the trigger
We smooth sharp teeth or fillings, adjust dentures and check braces for rubbing.
3. Look for causes
Recurring ulcers can point to stress, low iron, B12 or folate, or certain toothpastes and foods.
4. Screen and refer
A persistent sore is examined carefully and referred for specialist assessment if needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get rid of a mouth ulcer fast?
Rinse with warm salt water, use a medicated ulcer gel, avoid spicy and acidic food and do not pick at it. Most ulcers heal in a week. If the same spot keeps ulcerating, a sharp tooth or filling is probably the cause and we can smooth it.
Why do I keep getting mouth ulcers?
Common reasons are stress, tiredness, minor injuries from sharp teeth or braces, iron or vitamin B deficiency, and a sensitivity to sodium lauryl sulphate in some toothpastes. A consultation helps narrow it down.
When is a mouth ulcer serious?
When it has lasted longer than two weeks, is painless or hard, bleeds, or comes with a white or red patch. These need examination without delay, especially in people who smoke or drink heavily.
Are mouth ulcers contagious?
Aphthous ulcers are not. Cold sores on the lips are caused by a virus and are contagious while the blister is present.
