Chipped, Cracked & Broken Tooth Treatment at M Dental Care

Teeth break for many reasons: biting on something hard, a fall or sports injury, a large old filling giving way, decay weakening the tooth or years of grinding. A chip on a front tooth spoils your smile; a crack in a back tooth can cause sharp pain on biting and, if ignored, split the tooth beyond saving.

At M Dental Care in Najjera–Kira, Kampala, we repair broken teeth the same day whenever possible. Small chips are rebuilt with tooth-coloured composite bonding, larger breaks with a filling or crown, and cracked teeth are stabilised before the crack spreads. Front teeth are colour-matched so the repair is invisible.

What to do if you break a tooth

  • Rinse your mouth with warm water and keep any large piece of tooth in milk
  • Cover a sharp edge with sugar-free gum or wax to protect your tongue
  • Take paracetamol or ibuprofen if it hurts; avoid chewing on that side
  • If a whole tooth is knocked out, hold it by the crown, keep it in milk and come within the hour
  • Call or WhatsApp (+256) 0200 959927 for a same-day appointment

Repair Options by Damage

Small chip

Composite bonding is sculpted onto the tooth, shaped and polished in one visit. Ideal for front teeth.

Broken corner or cusp

A tooth-coloured filling or an onlay rebuilds the missing part and protects the tooth.

Large break or crack

A crown covers and holds the whole tooth together, preventing the crack from spreading.

Break into the nerve

Root canal treatment removes the exposed nerve, then a crown restores the tooth.

Your Visit

1. Assessment

We check how deep the break goes and whether the nerve or root is affected, with an X-ray if needed.

2. Pain relief

Exposed dentine or nerve is covered so the sensitivity stops immediately.

3. Repair

Bonding and fillings are completed the same day. Crowns and veneers take two visits, with a temporary in between.

4. Protection

If grinding caused the break, we recommend a night guard to protect the repair and your other teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a chipped front tooth be fixed?

Yes, usually in a single visit with composite bonding matched to your tooth colour. Larger chips may be better with a veneer or crown for strength and appearance.

How much does it cost to fix a broken tooth in Kampala?

It depends on the damage. At M Dental Care a bonding or filling repair is UGX 120,000, a crown is UGX 900,000 and a veneer UGX 4,000,000 per tooth. Consultation is UGX 20,000.

Is a cracked tooth an emergency?

It should be seen quickly. A crack that reaches the nerve or root can make the tooth unsaveable. Pain when biting or releasing is the classic sign — book the same day.

My tooth broke but does not hurt — do I still need to come?

Yes. A broken tooth has lost its protection and will decay or fracture further, and a sharp edge can ulcerate your tongue or cheek. Early repair is cheaper and simpler.
